Marko Žerjav
Biography

Marko Žerjav is an academic musician - guitarist and guitar professor, born in Čakovec in 1979. After finishing elementary school and the elementary music school, he enrolled in the natural sciences and mathematics high school in Čakovec, and then in the secondary Music School in Varaždin in the class of Professor Moreno Vinceković. In 1998, he enrolled in the classical guitar study at the Music Academy in Zagreb in the class of Professor István Römer, where he graduated in 2002.
For around fifteen years, he worked at the Music School in Varaždin, after which he was employed at the Art School Miroslav Magdalenić in Čakovec. His students have won numerous awards at guitar competitions in Croatia and abroad.
Since 2013, he has been teaching guitar at his own private music school – Studio Žerjav. In 2017, he was promoted to the title of senior professor.
He played jazz guitar in the Čakovec Big Band and Dixie band for twenty years. During his music education, he improved under many renowned guitar pedagogues. He has recorded several audio releases with arrangements of traditional Međimurje and Christmas songs. He engages in arranging popular and traditional music for solo guitar and various chamber ensembles.
